Hello all! As I sit here and think back to April 9, 2016, the adjective that keeps popping into my head is incredible. Scott and Shirley Duffer’s wedding was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I wonder who planned the whole thing?? 😉
I met Scott and Shirley May of 2015. Right off the bat I knew they would be an awesome couple to work with. Animal lovers, (cats especially)considerate of our planet, both professionals and funny! Scott and Shirley are the type of people you want to keep around for a lifetime. Score! They trusted me with what would be one of the most important days of their lives and I am so glad that they did.
After scoping out a few venues, I knew that the 1909 would be the perfect fit for them and their 98 guests. It’s intimate and picturesque space, matched their personalities and taste. Sure enough they loved it as much as I did..as much as I do.
Weeks before the wedding, we began to tune into what the weather would be like on their wedding day and soon realized that things weren’t going to go as planned after all. It poured and it poured the entire night before the wedding and the day of up until about 3:00p.m. As a planner, I followed through with not plan A or B but plan C. We rented a tent for dinner and moved guests indoors for cocktail hour. It was perfect. In fact, it was even more beautiful than I had imagined it to be. The tent, heat lamps and bistro lighting added a romantic and cozy ambiance. Oh! and let us not forget about the croaking frogs and chirping crickets, what a bonus!
With the sky clearing up right before the start of the ceremony, guests began to arrive and we managed to get the perfect “first look” shots. Seriously, how sweet are they??…
…and look at those custom made vests!
As we transitioned from ceremony to dinner to dancing, I couldn’t help but notice how much fun their guests were having and how much love filled the air. They ate, they danced, they laughed and some even cried. These two enjoyed every single minute of the day the way they deserved to and I am so blessed to have been a part of it all.
2 months later I am still raving about this wedding you’d think it was my very own! The food was outstanding, the staff was extremely helpful, my team of vendors rocked it once again and my Mr. and Mrs. are now clients turned friends. I am beyond grateful for every opportunity I get as an event planner and it truly makes me love what I do 10000x over when I see the smiles and glow in my client’s eyes when it all comes together. The thrill of it all starts with you! Thank you Duffers for trusting me and rolling with the punches. Congratulations again and again, you are a match made in the Topanga Canyon heavens. XOXO!
