As creatives, we strive to constantly reinvent a trend or vamp it up just a bit more to make an event different from the last. Often times it is not only about the place settings or the song that gets played for the first dance, but the team of vendors that come together to put on a kick ass event.
These styled shoots as we call them, are the perfect chance to create, invent, play with and showcase an idea that you need to execute before your brain bursts with the plethora of ideas! They are also made to give you, the reader, an insight on what more we have to offer.
This particular shoot was put together in a matter of only a couple of weeks and I could not have been happier with the result. Smoky Hollow Studios in El Segundo is the perfect, most intimate space that can easily be transformed into the epitome of industrial chic. With it’s chalkboard walls and brick backdrops, you could easily use your imagination and dive into a dreamy, romantic yet nontraditional event.
Many would wonder where the “first look” photos or bridal party photos could be taken in such an intimate venue, but the truth is, with the perfect photographer and creativity, the spaces are endless! The following photos are my favorite out of the hundreds of pictures Alicia from Mink Photography shot for us. I mean, how gorgeous are these and how gorgeous is this real life couple?! Andy and Keir could not be any more perfect!
So picture this, while the entire bridal party is off exploring and taking advantage of the neighborhood, guests are enjoying cocktail hour with some fun music, good drinks, food and beautiful market lighting.
Guests will then be escorted into the reception for some dinner and dancing. For this shoot, I wanted to showcase how gorgeous the Pantone for 2017 is. Green and white. So simple yet so elegant and beautiful. There are a million different ways to present this color palette and for me it was important to accent it all with hints of gold and lots of candles!
Being that Smoky Hollow is very industrial, I also linked it all together with just a few geometric shapes. I definitely did not want to overwhelm the space with too much decor and take away from its natural beauty so I made sure lighting in the right places was precise! James from Mr. and Mrs. Creamery provided the beautiful desserts and Dawn from Earth Baby Flowers is simply amazing! I knew she was the perfect fit for this shoot when I began the design for it. I was right!
Your special day should have all the touches your heart desires. It should compliment the idea you have in your head and the venue you have chosen. Remember to focus on what’s really important, your unity, family and friends and leave the planning and details to a professional. I’ll leave you with a more photos of our fun styled shoot as well as all the vendor info for your reference. Thanks for stopping by! I truly hope you enjoy.
